Are Advertisements Harmful for the Population?
In the passage "Hype" from "Readings on Popular Culture for Writers", Sonia Maasik and Jack Solomon express a kind of concern regarding the extremely proliferation of Advertisements in North America during the last years. They affirm that those ads are toxic and affect the mental peace of people every day because of the exaggeration in quantity and places.
I know that the marketing needs to create and use imagination to get wherever and whenever with their product or service, however I think before I read this passage that they are really overcrowded our minds with all this information. Sometimes I have doubt of the quality of a product for seeing it every where. I also think that they are doing too much and that some one have to let them know to stop because we feel more like every single advise can be a foolish stuff and restless of importance.
This fact is not only happening in the United States. In my country the Dominican Republic which is a third world country is worse and people get affected because they became more superficial due to the fact that they can not get this or that product which they says is amazing and It will resolve their problem. Then the result is an increase in the corruption and delicuence.
Lastly I am glad that there are authors and books which talk about this topic because it is really too much already. We have to think about it as a serious issue which will bring worse consequences to our population and mostly in our kids. I wish my daughter could grow up in a healthy and uncontaminated environment, just like the years of our grandparents with the publicity and marketing limited to some places only.
